This has been one crazy week for our family. So crazy, in fact, that we've had to
increase our family size by 50%!
That's right, Celecta Rose Gee arrived early Wednesday morning. :) She is so cute!
On Tuesday evening, Celecta Sr. started feeling contractions
and was wondering if we were going to have a baby soon. She mostly just sat around that day and
rested. Then, at about 7 PM, she
came into me and said, "We need to leave; NOW." Apparently her water had broken, so off
to the hospital we went. Luckily
for us, we live just across the street, so it wasn't too bad. We went upstairs, got checked in, and
then just sat around waiting.
At about 9, Celecta was feeling a lot of pain, so she got
the epidural medicine. This made
it really nice, because she couldn't even feel anything and we got to sleep
through almost all of her labor!
At about 4:30, they woke us up and said it was about time to have a
baby, so we got a good 5-6 hours of sleep that night (unheard of for most
labors). At 5:28 am, Celecta Rose
was born. :) It was an incredible moment. The nurses started to worry for a bit
when her heart rate was really fast, so she went to the NICU. But by they time she had been hooked up
to the monitors, her heart rate had gone back down, so she was admitted back
down to the well-baby nursery.
They said it was the fastest trip to the NICU ever, lol. Since then, she has been as healthy as
a horse, and we have been able to hold her and feed her and watch her sleep and
just love her. :)
Everybody got to go see her at the hospital that day and
hold her. She has been a really
good baby, not too fussy (unless she's hungry) and everybody says she is so
pretty! In fact, the nurses at the
hospital told us that she had won the 'cutest baby of the day' contest they
hold every day there. Haha, it
made me proud. ;) It's too bad you guys don't get to hold
her, but Celecta is sending a couple pictures so you can at least sort of meet
her. Mom and Dad might be sending
you some, too, since they had a nicer camera, haha.
We have been sleeping a lot less at night, as Celecta Rose
keeps us up a lot, but it is definitely worth it. It just makes school a little crazier, as I seem to be
falling asleep all the time, haha.
Luckily, tomorrow is a holiday so I can rest a little more before I go
back. I do get to sleep a lot more
than Celecta, at least, as she is the baby's sole source of food. Poor Mama. :)
Well, I hope you are doing well in Brazil. I sure love you and will show Celecta
Rose pictures of you every day so she can get to know her other aunt and
uncle. :) Work hard, and we'll see you soon
(ish)!
Since then I have been adjusting to motherhood and Ryan has been looking for a job. I am grateful for such a good, happy, healthy baby and Ryan and I are hoping to hear from some companies soon.
I would give you a more detailed post, but it has been so long that I am afraid no one would read it and I wouldn't write it. Here are some pictures to make up for it though.
THE BLESSING DAY (SHE WORE AN HEIRLOOM DRESS WORN BY MY GREAT AUNT, BUT DIDN'T STAY IN IT LONG DUE TO HER REPUTATION OF BLOWING OUT OF DIAPERS)
HAD TO CATCH HER SMILE ON MY COMPUTER CAMERA BECAUSE SHE WOULDN'T DO IT ON A REGULAR CAMERA
CLASSIC CELECTA FACE
